Baby Keem, Lana Del Rey, and Big Baby Tape: New Music Digest (February 13 — 20)
Baby Keem, “CA$INO” — Album
Baby Keem is the cousin and protégé of Kendrick Lamar, and arguably the most intriguing freshman in the game right now. Like many greats, he started behind the boards, producing tracks for Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and even Beyoncé. In 2021, he dropped one of the year's best projects, “The Melodic Blue,” before taking a hiatus. Since then, the rapper has only made rare guest appearances on his peers' tracks. After nearly five years of silence, Keem is finally presenting his new album “CA$INO” alongside a documentary film, “Booman II,” which offers a deeper dive into the record's lore.
“Baby Keem’s ability to oscillate between chaotic energy and melodic vulnerability is what makes him a generational talent,” notes a senior editor at GQ.
Among the heavy-hitting features is a new track with Kendrick. Their duo has already gifted us “Family Ties,” “Range Brothers,” and the Grammy-winning “The Hillbillies.” The record also features contributions from Momo Boyd, Too $hort, and Che Ecru. The album consists of 11 tracks in total, and early listeners are already calling it a no-skip experience.
Thundercat & Mac Miller, “She Knows Too Much” — Single
Thundercat is gearing up for his fifth solo album and continues to build hype with stellar singles. “She Knows Too Much” is an archival gem recorded 10 years ago that is only now getting an official release. Before Mac’s tragic passing in 2018, Thundercat was one of his closest collaborators and friends. Together, they created a massive catalog of vibe-heavy music. Thundercat produced tracks for Miller’s albums and mixtapes, and in 2015, they even recorded an entire instrumental album in just three days, though it remains unreleased.

Thundercat’s upcoming LP “Distracted” is set to drop on April 3. It will feature a stacked lineup including Tame Impala, Lil Yachty, A$AP Rocky, Channel Tres, and Willow. For fans of the late legend, this single is a powerful piece of core memory nostalgia. You can read more about Mac Miller's lasting impact on music culture at Forbes.
Lana Del Rey, “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” — Single
In recent years, one of the most influential icons of the modern pop scene has mostly been discussed in the context of her marriage. Lana’s romantic choice may have surprised some fans, but the singer couldn't care less about the internet discourse. She is currently locked in, recording her upcoming album “Stove.” This record will mark the tenth studio album of her career. Lana originally planned to release it in January but later decided to add six more songs to the tracklist.
“Lana Del Rey is no longer just a singer; she has become the ultimate American archetype,” says a fashion critic for Vogue.
This week, the singer debuted a new single featuring her husband. The enchanting ballad “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” is a tribute to their marriage. Lana describes the track as her “absolute favorite on the upcoming album.” With its cottagecore aesthetic and haunting vocals, it’s peak Lana.
Big Baby Tape, “ILOVEBENZO” — EP
This marks the first major release from the rapper in three years. The cover art features the iconic Comme des Garçons heart logo, though it only slightly reflects the sonic direction of the EP. In his lyrics, Tape revisits his early years in the industry and his climb to the top. The minimalist instrumentals, heavily influenced by the Metro Boomin sound, immerse the listener in the atmosphere of a permanent flex and the success that defines the rapper's lifestyle.
The production of this EP is inspired by the “classic” Atlanta trap sound of the 2010s and its pioneers — Future and Gucci Mane. However, on tracks like “To The Moon” and “Naverno Net,” Tape shows off his romantic side. The EP features 9 tracks with guest spots from other major players in the Eastern European scene like Platina and OG Buda.
Parfumeur, FEDUK, the pak, Tasteluv, “FIRST L” (REMIX) — Single
A melodic trap anthem about first love. You might have already heard snippets of the chorus going viral on TikTok and Reels. After Feduk posted a video to the viral sound, the artists decided to make it official. The remix features fresh verses from Tasteluv and The pak, along with a guest part from Feduk in his signature melodic style.
“If we’re going to play at love, let’s do it hard, dishes breaking—it’s a movie for adults. Thought about it too much, but it turned out simple: this is my first love, forever left in the past,” Feduk sings, delivering a performance with main character energy.
