Tim Cook Teases Major Apple Drops: The Ultimate Hype Guide to the iPhone Fold
Apple CEO Tim Cook just confirmed that the tech giant is kicking off a massive launch week starting Monday, March 2. "Big week ahead. Everything starts Monday morning!" Cook posted, accompanied by the trending #AppleLaunch hashtag. The tech world is officially on high alert.
"Apple is shifting its strategy to keep the momentum high throughout the week, ensuring each product gets its own 'main character' moment in the spotlight," says Bloomberg’s tech insider Mark Gurman.
The announcements are expected to roll out over three days, from March 2 to March 4, as the corporation hosts its in-person Apple Experience events simultaneously in New York City, London, and Shanghai. According to reports from Mark Gurman, viewers should prepare for at least five new products, covering everything from hardware and software to next-gen silicon chips.
What’s New in the Apple Pipeline
The lineup is expected to feature the iPhone 17e—a budget-friendly model following in the footsteps of the iPhone 16e, likely keeping that sweet-spot price tag of $599. Rumor has it the device will be powered by the A19 chip and finally include MagSafe wireless charging support (a major upgrade over its predecessor). We might also see the Dynamic Island interface replace the "notch" found on the older 16e model, along with Apple’s proprietary C1X modem.
Additionally, two new iPads are expected to debut: a base model equipped with the A18 chip, bringing Apple Intelligence to the company’s most affordable tablet, and an eighth-generation iPad Air featuring the powerhouse M4 chip. However, don’t expect a total "glow-up" in terms of design—the aesthetics are likely staying the same.
The real "stop the press" moment of the week could be the revival of the budget MacBook. Apple sunsetted this line years ago, but rumors suggest a new 12.9-inch model is coming with an A18 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM. The price is projected to land between $699 and $749. In a move that screams Gen Z aesthetic, the laptop will reportedly be available in several "pop" colors, including Yellow, Green, Blue, and Pink.

Power users, get ready: updated MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are also on the horizon. These will serve as high-performance additions to the family, following the base M5 model release in October 2025. While some fans are manifesting an M5 MacBook Air, an updated Mac Studio, and a new Studio Display, Gurman suggests the vibes on those releases are currently "uncertain."
As previously teased, Apple is ditching the traditional "one-and-done" annual keynote for a phased release schedule. This three-day rollout will conclude with a hands-on event where media and influencers can finally get some quality time with the new gear.
Leaked: The Future of the iPhone Fold
Apple is finally ready to enter its "foldable era," but don't expect to see it at the Apple Store until at least Fall 2026. Fresh supply chain leaks suggest a release date in September, likely coinciding with the iPhone 18 Pro launch. The tech specs for the "bend" are wild: the crease is expected to be less than 0.15 millimeters deep with a fold angle of less than 2.5 degrees, making it virtually invisible to the naked eye.
The upcoming device, unofficially dubbed the iPhone Fold, marks Apple’s long-awaited entry into the foldable market, a space Samsung has dominated for years. Mass production is slated to begin in July, aligning with the usual timeline for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
A Foldable Without the Crease
The "crease" has been the ultimate "ick" for foldable smartphones and a major reason Apple sat on the sidelines for so long. Now, the company is reportedly using cutting-edge foldable OLED technology from Samsung Display, which was briefly showcased at CES 2026. Journalists who saw it IRL reported that there was "zero crease visible" compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The secret sauce is a laser-perforated metal plate from South Korean firm Fine M-Tec, which distributes the stress of the bend to keep the screen smooth.
"Apple isn't just trying to make a foldable; they are trying to perfect the form factor. By choosing Samsung’s proven display solutions over an experimental in-house build, they are prioritizing a stable, high-volume rollout," notes industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The South Korean giant is expected to ramp up production capacity to churn out seven to eight million foldable panels annually specifically for the iPhone Fold.
iPhone Fold: Design and Specs
When it comes to the "under the hood" specs and design, the iPhone Fold is expected to adopt a book-style form factor. The device will reportedly unfold into a massive 7.8-inch internal display, with a 5.5-inch cover screen for quick tasks. The chassis will be crafted from Titanium, featuring dual 48MP rear cameras and Touch ID integrated into the power button instead of Face ID.
Mark Gurman believes Apple will stick to a "stealth wealth" color palette, offering the iPhone Fold in Dark Gray, Black, White, and Silver. He also noted that Apple’s labs are already exploring a second foldable—a compact "clamshell" iPhone—though that project depends entirely on the success of the first Fold model.
As for the price tag? Prepare your wallet. Early estimates suggest the iPhone Fold will retail between $1,999 and $2,500.
